From the Team:
"When the world is running down"
The week is here! You may or may not remember, but this FRIDAY we are collabing with the Brooklyn Sway team at Signal for an epic night of house music and history! Class will be in session Friday night, headlined by two purveyors of the genre - Detroit’s Norm Talley and New York’s Eric Kupper. Plus Asha & Jay from BK Sway will be opening things up with some vinyl-only grooves.
We are handling the happy hour portion from 6-9pm. No better person to bring in than local rising star, and our good friend, Harry Fletcher III. Tickets are FREE (yes, free in this economy) if you come for the happy hour. The support would be huge as we want to show well for the BK Sway team and Signal so we can do future events like these.
To celebrate, we have a deep dive into the artists below. If anything, just listen to their mixes and you’ll be hooked. Hope to see you all there!

Artists of the Week:
Norm Talley
Instagram: @norm_talley
One of the foundation DJs of Detroit’s deep house scene, since 1982 Norm Talley helped to establish and cement the deep end of Detroit’s dance culture. An early understudy of deceased legend Ken Collier, Norm also early associated closely with Delano Smith, a bond that stands the test of time. Detroit’s house scene was slow to receive wider recognition, but this funky underbelly thrived throughout the ‘80s and helped birth later developments, techno included.
Talley dropped his first releases in the late ‘90s on respected labels like Track Mode and Eddie Fowlkes’ City Boy, early signs of what was to come as Detroit house emerged from the shadows to worldwide. Detroit Beatdown, the DJ trio formed by Talley, Delano Smith, and Mike ‘Agent X’ Clark circa 2000, became instrumental in this rise; showcasing the slowed down, raw, low-slung take on house that could only come from Detroit.
Eric Kupper

Eric Kupper began playing in bands in his formative years, and got his real start in the mid-1980s working as a keyboardist, guitarist, and songwriter for such producer/remixers as David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Arthur Baker, Mark Kamins, Justin Strauss, Peter Rauhofer, and Richie Jones. Since 1986 he has played on, remixed, and/or produced over 2,000 records for artists spanning all contemporary musical genres. His work in the mid-to-late 1980s/early 1990s, especially his work with Def Mix Productions, is considered to be part of the foundation for house music as it exists today. His career is truly impressive as he has garnered 122 #1 Billboard records for artists spanning many genres and runs Hysteria Records, now celebrating it's 25th anniversary.
Asha & Jay Prouty

Asha & Jay are simply the best and have been great mentors for us. They are the founders of Brooklyn Sway, the music collective and record label that is hosting the event on Friday. They are the king and queen of vinyl in New York and have been purveyors of the analog in a world that has migrated towards the digital. However, I think vinyl is making a strong resurgence within our age bracket so maybe they are two of the hippest people in New York.
Let’s start with Asha. Asha is a Polish-born vinyl enthusiast now based in Brooklyn, NY, and has been passionate about music from a very young age. A dedicated digger with an ever-growing collection of records, her infectious smile and vibrant energy light up dance floors wherever she plays. In addition to her DJing, Asha plays an integral role in Brooklyn Sway, a vinyl-only music label, and is a co-founder of Freshly Pressed, a music collective and event series focused on raising funds for music-oriented nonprofit organizations in the New York City area.
Jay is a house music dj, producer, and vinyl connoisseur with over 20 years of experience, currently living in Brooklyn, NYC. He relocated to the Big Apple from Boston where he played an integral role in the development of the house music scene by exposing the city to new and up-coming artists: including first appearances by Booka Shade, Peace Division, Seth Troxler, Dyed Soundorom, and many more. As a dj, Jay held residencies at some of New York’s & Boston’s most prominent clubs. His all vinyl dj sets are a journey through the history of house music, weaving in the old with the new, with a focus on hypnotic rhythms and old school acapellas.
Harry Fletcher III

Where do we begin with Harry? Harry and I (George & Mike) met in college within the first few days on campus. Fast forward to our senior year (2020-2021) during the dark days of COVID, we came up with the genius idea of throwing underground parties with Harry and his PIC (partner-in-crime), Ali, spinning. These were legit underground in the basements of off-campus houses as we technically weren’t allowed to have any “gatherings” on campus. Rules! Anyway - Harry & Ali became legends during this era at Hobart.
This one is too good to not include.
Harry’s passion for DJing is deeply rooted in his upbringing within the NYC Club Shelter scene. Born into this vibrant community, Harry was surrounded by house music from the womb. Thanks to his parents, who introduced him to the party scene at a young age, he continues to bridge the gap between the old and the new blending timeless sounds with contemporary influences. Harry has performed at numerous music festivals and clubs at home and abroad. Specifically, he has been a regular at Nowadays and has an upcoming tour in Japan.
When he’s not in the DJ booth, Harry can be found in the studio working on various architectural projects or digging through crates of records spanning Afro-House, disco, funk, soul, jazz, and techno from all eras.
