Artist of the Week:
Nick Curly
Instagram: @nick.curly
We are very excited to bring you the long awaited write up of 8-bit & cecille owner, Nick Curly.
He is the German house and tech‐house luminary who has helped define the “Mannheim sound” for over a decade, now based in Berlin and spinning worldwide.
Nick Curly (real name Nico Döhringer) began DJing in the mid‑90s as a teenager in Mannheim and was quick to launch his own labels. 8Bit Records was founded in 2004 with partner Gorge, and Cécille Records in 2007 with Marc Scholl. These labels became launchpads for underground talent and solidified his reputation as both artist and curator.
His breakthrough arrived in 2008, and by the early 2010s his productions consistently landed on respected imprints like Truesoul, Defected, Knee Deep in Sound. His 2012 album Between The Lines became a benchmark of modern melodic tech‑house.
Curly’s sound is defined by groove‑heavy tech‑house that drifts into deep, hypnotic realms. Drawing inspiration from Frankie Knuckles, DJ Sneak, Villalobos, Luciano, Air, and Dennis Ferrer, he fuses layered melodic hooks with tight, rolling basslines and crisp percussion. This evolving yet dancefloor‑centric feel is unmistakably his. Here is a few of our favorites.
As a live DJ, Nick plays hundreds of shows annually, including residencies at Berlin’s Watergate and headline slots at festivals like Time Warp, SonneMondSterne, Awakenings, and more. His party brand Trust, launched with a distinct artistic vision, now travels global venues from Fabric in London to BPM Festival in Mexico and Sonus in Croatia.
What makes Nick Curly unique is his commitment to emotional resonance in electronic music. Starting from playing keyboards at age nine, his goal has always been to connect people through music—not through hype or trends. He only releases music when it truly feels special to him, and his focus remains on substance over volume.
Whether dragging early techno into melodic spaces, or infusing house with subtle mood-shifts, Nick’s sets and productions feel like journeys. His influence as producer, label head, remixer, and curator remains vital, and his next chapter looks poised to continue shaping underground dance music globally.

Event of the Week:
FIXED with JDH & Dave P (all night), Chloe Battelle + gabby cocco @ Good Room
It’s been some time since we gave you an event at Good Room. And what better event to break the ice then a FIXED party. JDH & Dave P, the usual suspects, are the tone setters in the main (Good) room with their typical house, deep and disco jams. Chloe Battelle & Gabby Cocco take over the Bad Room with their new Softcore party. Expect fun Italo tracks, techno, disco, and anything else that makes you move. Also shoutout to Gabby, she has been on a tear lately across some of the hottest clubs + I believe she is from the great area of the Lehigh Valley. Not many from there are into this music! #610
