The film from our launch party have been returned to us, finally! A lot of you, readers and followers, are in them so stay tuned. And for those that aren’t, I hope you get a bad case of FOMO and come to our next event.

Artist Spotlight/Focus:
On each edition of the LowDown, we will be highlighting an emerging producer or DJ with potential to catch wind on the scene.
Nautica

The decision for this week’s artist spotlight was a quick one. It would be a challenge to not be aware of the impact Liverpool duo Nautica is making on the scene at the moment. Let’s dive into Josh Lewis Caolan Savage’s story.
Nautica achieved public notice through various top tier SoundCloud edits, Empire of the Sun and Drake are some examples that put them on the map for me. Blanc Audio invited Nautica to release an edit on their platform which was the foundation for their rise:
Furthermore, they took off at a steady trajectory, achieving acceptance into prominent house music labels from the likes of Solid Grooves Raw, Whoyostro, Piv, Deeperfect, Glasgow Underground, and Origins. Over the past 4 consistent years of creating set staples, people became addicted to Nautica’s simple yet immaculate sound. Nothing too fast or slow, just right where you want it. This makes their discography so easy to dance to. So much so, that the two realized it was time to start their own label. In November of this year, “Tyde” was born with an elite first release:
Damn good right? This week, they released 002 titled “You’ll Understand,” which is the prime reason Nautica instantly came to mind when thinking of potential Artist spotlights. I am very excited to see what direction Nautica takes with their label, including what talent they recruit to showcase. The best is only to come for this pair, and their potential impact to dance music that they can create. I mean c’mon, look at the difference in crowds:
And 5 years later:
You love to see it! Join us, hop on the Nautica train (all aboard)! Follow @tydelabel.
Event of the Week:
The following section is dedicated to the upcoming weekend's schedule, focusing on one event worth putting on your radar.
Considering Christmas is on a Monday this year, you should probably spend the weekend with loved ones. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find time for yourself. How about Thursday? “Yeah, Thursday sounds fantastic!” Perfect - we have just the event for you. Head on over to Eavesdrop at the bottom of Greenpoint to catch Pontchartrain spinning some tunes. Shoutout to Zarvan for putting us onto Pontchartrain as he is known to play super groovy house tracks that make you question if you are in the 2000s. Also, Eavesdrop is a dope little bar that serves up some craft cocktails, natural wines, and tasty plates that are all intended to pair well with the sound for the night. If you don’t believe me, check out their “sound wall.”
And if you really don’t believe, let’s go on a date together Thursday. Preferably female. This is George Pektor, by the way. 5 foot 11 inches and I hold a gym membership.

YouTube/Soundcloud Mix of the Week:
The following is a favorite YouTube or SoundCloud mix that can make the mundane feel a little spicy. Click the attached link below to listen directly.
This week we are bringing you a two-hour recording straight from the tech house temple, Mint Warehouse in Leeds. It is rare to find a live set from KOKO (IT) online, let alone one from 2023, so today is our lucky day. Expect some no nonsense house music in this one. So much respect to this guy, mostly due to his production talent at such a young age, but also his ability to wear a suit to every set. Enjoy!
