From the Team:
LOVE IS A LONG LONG ROAD.
We are really rolling here! The feedback has been great, and we cannot thank you all enough for the support. Every one of you is a frickin’ legend - go tell your boss to pay you more!
Quick note: despite all the enjoyment we are having with this newsletter, I think it wouldn’t hurt to emphasize that our primary focus is to release music as a record label. However, as many of you may know, this a very calculated process and does not happen frequently in the beginning - unless you are the Future of electronic music. WITH THAT BEING SAID, we are inching closer to a release date for the mythical Cloudy Sangster’s first release, which will be a 2-track EP titled Freedom & Power. There are a lot of boring details that happen behind the scenes with the preparation of a release on a label, but just know we are getting very close. We are beyond stoked but more details on this to come…

Artist Spotlight/Focus:
On each edition of the LowDown, we will be highlighting an emerging producer or DJ with potential to catch wind on the scene.
Martin OCCO

Originally from Slovakia, Martin OCCO got his start on the electronic music scene after he moved to Germany, where he spent most of his early years. Man, what it would be like to grow up in Germany. Maybe we’d all be successful music producers too! Jk, Martin OCCO has a gift he was given at birth, and you can tell through his discography dating back 10+ years.
In all honestly, even though Martin OCCO is not a newcomer by any means, he just came up on my (Lint) map this past week with his newest self released EP titled “Keep Moving.” 6 tracks of pure techtronic engulfment.
It is true; I am very easily entertained when it comes to beats between 120-130 bpm, but all 6 tracks are good enough to be a title track, and that is not easy to do. For that reason, Martin OCCO is getting the LowDown shoutout this week. If you look more into his recent releases, you’ll find a pleasant, percussive theme. It creates an addictive energy that commands the dance floor, making it close to impossible to leave. In fact, if you have seen a Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, or wAFF set recently, you probably heard a Martin OCCO ID and didn’t realize it.
Come out to the US soon, Martin! Much love.
Event of the Week:
The following section is dedicated to the upcoming weekend's schedule, focusing on one event worth putting on your radar.
If you read our first edition of the Lowdown, you may recall us highlighting an event that included Eli Escobar at the Good Room in Greenpoint. Well, if you missed that event, there will be plenty of other chances to catch him. But now, many of them will be at his own club in Williamsburg, Gabriella, which is opening its door on Friday night. He’s a fan favorite of locals and puts on super groovy sets, but let’s be real, not a lot of us are that cool to get in the first night, sooooo we recommend checking it out on Saturday night! Grammy award-winning producer from the UK, Luke Solomon, will be tearing it up all night, as the focus of Gabriella is to give DJs the freedom to play long extended sets. You can read more about Gabriella here. Go a little early, check it out before the crowd comes. Tickets are $20 at the door so bring that (C)A$$(H)!
YouTube/Soundcloud Mix of the Week:
The following is a favorite YouTube or SoundCloud mix that can make the mundane feel a little spicy. Click the attached link below to listen directly.
This week, we’re sourcing local. Tune into a recent Lot Radio session with guest Mella Dee. I've been a fan of this guy for some time, and he has some top-notch productions under his belt. However, it is hard to catch him live (if you live in the US at least). You really never know what to expect when you press play on a Mella Dee set recording, but for this one, anticipate a house-focused sound with some experimental elements. Enjoy!
