Summer is flying by and the shows/releases are stacking up. If you haven’t already, get out and hit a nice day set before you’re forced inside for the winter.
We have some new releases coming up that we’re excited to get in front of you, and we’ll be sharing a new mix this Friday. Thanks for staying loyal, we know there’s no shortage of things competing for your attention. We promise to keep providing a fresh look into the industry and our own material.
Artist of the Week:
Retromigration

I first heard Retromigration last year when he came out with his Half Fried EP on Semi Delicious. Immediately this EP stuck out to me as unique and I couldn’t quite put my finger on what I liked about it so much. After coming back to it a few times I decided the man behind the sound was worthy of a deep dive. Finally I’ve gotten around to getting a lowdown write up on him.
Since that EP he has continued to grow and be successful in the industry with several more singles and EPs in 2026, as well as shows all over Amsterdam playing alongside the biggest names in the industry. A Berlin-born Nigerian DJ now settled in Amsterdam, he’s picked up support along the way from the likes of BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, and Mixmag.
Online I saw he is categorized mainly as Jazz House but I find it hard to settle with that simple definition. It’s very soulful and organic sounding while at the same time using tons of very techy elements. That makes more sense once you learn he started out on bass and classical music at age seven before working his way into jazz and hip-hop. Retromigration’s signature swoopy organ-like sound is what sticks out so well to me.
I’m excited to see where he takes his career from here. I’d love to see him link up with some more artists outside his usual circle and see what that brings out of his sound. Hoping it’s only a matter of time before he brings a show to the US.
