The LowDown #129
One-hundred and twenty ninth installment of our weekly newsletter from the Team.
From the Team:
“Fucking *Apollo Studio”
Friday night at Apollo Studio was incredible. Poggio went deep into his bag and mixed some incredible vinyl records. And m.O.N.R.O.E. laid down such a clean mix that was littered with shazams. Not to mention Harry Fletcher & Jared Maharaj kicking things off and closing it out in proper fashion, respectively. I think the true mark of a good party is the size of the crowd when the lights have to go on and the sound is cut. We had plenty of people still dancing, asking where the party is going. Degenerates!
We will have more photos and videos to share by hopefully this week, but we wanted to express our gratitude to you. A lot of our success is because of your support and we are immensely indebted to you as this events wouldn’t be possible without you. Seriously, thank you!

Artist of the Week:
Poolhaus
Instagram: @poolhaus_music
Poolhaus is the Brooklyn-based project of Sean and Devin, a DJ and producer duo whose sound blends modern house music with the energy and emotion of the 90s and early 2000s rave era. Originally meeting at Trinity College through a shared obsession with electronic music, the pair quickly developed a musical partnership rooted in groove, nostalgia, and club culture.
Take a listen and try to tell me this is not a perfect combination driving house rhythms with trancey rave, and progressive influence. To me, their has the essence of peak-time energy but can be played during any atmosphere or time frame. This clear sonic identity has led to releases on labels including Club Sweat, Insomniac, Solotoko, and others, while earning support from artists such as Fatboy Slim, Dombresky, Claptone, Gorgon City, TSHA, and Sam Divine. Here’s their latest release “Riddim Pump,” out last Friday.
Alongside their studio output, Poolhaus have become regular names within New York’s underground circuit and a growing number of club spaces across the US. Their sets reflect the same identity as their productions: high energy, groove-heavy, and influenced by the raw spirit of early rave culture.
In 2024, the duo launched PHAT TRAX, a Brooklyn-based label and event platform dedicated to pushing club culture forward while staying connected to the roots of dance music. Through releases, parties, and collaborations, the project has become an extension of their wider vision: championing house music inspired by classic rave sounds while building a strong community around it.
With a growing discography that continues to impress and an expanding touring schedule, Poolhaus are steadily establishing themselves as part of a new wave of artists reconnecting modern club music with the energy and emotion of its foundations. We love what you boys are doing!

Event of the Week:
Justin Strauss @ Gabriela
As we approach the summer months, it feels like Gabriela weather. Head on over on Saturday night to catch Justin Strauss. He’s a local legend that mixes an unshazamable amount of songs. He’s hypnotic, groovy and you will surely become a huge fan. Apparently the door at Gabriela has eased up too. Just arrive on the earlier side. Fortunately, he is playing all night.
